Abiraterone works by reducing androgen production in the body. Androgens are male hormones that can promote tumor growth in the prostate gland.

This medication has been classified as an ‘adrenal inhibitor’, it works by reducing the androgen (male hormone that can promote the growth of tumor) production in the body. Abiraterone Acetate is the generic name for this drug manufactured by Cipla Limited.

 Uses of Abiraterone:

Abiraterone Acetate is suggested to be used in combination with Prednisone for the treatment of men with prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body and has failed to respond to surgical treatments to decrease testosterone levels.

• Headaches
• Hot Flushes
• Heartburn
• Cold-like symptoms may occur
